What does Medi-Cal cost?

* Low-income parents or caretakers and children up to their 21st birthday
* People age 65 or older
* Adults over 21 who are legally blind or disabled
* Low-income pregnant women
* Persons receiving nursing home care

A person or family must have a monthly income within the program limits.

Certain rules also apply to how much property can be owned. A family's home, furnishings, personal items, and one motor vehicle are not counted. The rules differ for single people, married or people with families, children, or for spouses of persons in medical institutions or nursing facilities.

Recipients must be citizens or legal residents. A person who is not a legal resident may be eligible for emergency services.
