How It Works

Referral. Talk to your Doctor if you are not comfortable or have problems with your chair. Your doctor’s referral must explain what you need and why.

Custom fitting.  At IEHP's Wheelchair Seating Clinic, you'll:

●    Meet with a physical therapist and seating expert

●    Talk about your health and mobility needs

●    Get measured for a good custom fit

Approval.  The Clinic submits recommendations to IEHP for approval.

New chair.  You pick up your new chair at the Clinic and staff make sure everything fits right.

Q. What do I need to do before my fitting?

A. Make a list of your needs (at home, work, school, in the car) and what you like and don't like about the wheelchair you use now.

Q. Who supplies the equipment?

A. A Durable Medical Equipment (DME) provider authorized by IEHP

Q. Who does the repairs?

A. The DME company that provided your chair.  Talk with your Doctor or IEHP Member Services to make arrangements.

Q. How do I get other medical equipment?

A. Talk with your Doctor to get a prescription and/or referral.

They specialize in implementing a seating system that best positions and supports each Member for comfort and function.
