IEHP Provides Input on Services for People with Disabilities

As a key stakeholder, IEHP participated in state workgroups exploring Medi-Cal Redesign. 

Exploring Medi-Cal Reform

Along with other stakeholders, IEHP provided critical input to the CA Health and Human Services Agency (CHHS) when the state began exploring Medi-Cal reform in 2004 as a way to:

● Contain costs

● Retain necessary medical services to eligible low-income populations

IEHP’s Advocacy

IEHP’s input focused on promoting:

● Continued eligibility for those currently entitled to Medi-Cal (while also ensuring affordability of the program for the state in future years)

● Quality healthcare that helps seniors and people with disabilities live healthy and in their own homes and communities

● Flexibility that allows seniors and people with disabilities to access services that are appropriate to their needs

● Accessibility and effective communication between Members and their Doctors as well as health plans
