IEHP Specialty Network Offers More Accessibility and Choice
An independent study by a premier healthcare policy research firm indicates IEHP achieves higher levels of accessibility and choice among a larger group of experienced providers than the California’s current fee-for-service (FFS) system.
Lewin Study of Network Readiness
IEHP asked The Lewin Group to:
● Assess requirements for defining the adequacy of specialty networks
● Develop a framework for assessing these networks
● Measure adequacy of our existing network compared to FFS Medi-Cal
Analyses based on the unique needs and requirements of seniors and people with disabilities indicate IEHP’s specialty network:
● Measures favorably in nearly every measure of adequacy
● Maintains a larger group of experienced providers
● Achieves even higher levels of accessibility and choice
“Years before the State started discussing plans to move this population into managed care, we worked to eliminate barriers to health care,” explains IEHP Chief Network Development Officer Eric Haden. “We focused on increasing our specialty network, easing the specialty referral process, and improving facility access.”
Gearing Up for Managed Care Expansion
The state continues considering mandatory enrollment into managed care for Medi-Cal beneficiaries who are senior or have disabilities. This raises questions about the adequacy of managed care specialty networks – except at IEHP.
We confidently anticipate a substantial increase in Members who are seniors and people with disabilities, with or without mandatory enrollment. IEHP’s network can handle the increased demand with assurance and eagerly prepares for this growth. We attribute our readiness to:
● Innovative community collaborations focused on improving health care and access for seniors and people with disabilities
● Listening to our Members as you define your needs
● Successfully serving seniors and people with disabilities since 1996
