Free apply-by-phone service doubles

IEHP’s Healthy Families Program enrollment to 20,000

RIVERSIDE CO. & SAN BERNARDINO CO., CA  .  .  .  .  Thanks to a fast, easy, and free apply-by-phone service, Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP) has doubled its enrollment to 20,000 children in California’s Healthy Families Program (HFP).

The Healthy Families Program is low-cost health, dental and vision coverage for children of working families.  IEHP covers the health care portion.

IEHP credits its innovative Enrollment Assistance Unit for most of the 10,000 new HFP members from Riverside County and San Bernardino County who joined in just 17 months since July 2000.

“People are surprised how easy it is to fill out the application form over the phone in just a few minutes,” said Ed Moreno, IEHP community outreach manager.  “Each of our bilingual Enrollment Assistants has completed thousands of successful applications. We’ve learned by experience what information the state wants.”

“People are really grateful to have someone local they can call toll-free who can help them fill out the forms and explain exactly what they need to do,” added Moreno.  “We’ve been able to help many people who tried to do the application themselves and were denied for one reason or another.”

In fact, one of every three Inland Empire children enrolled in the Healthy Families Program is a member of IEHP.

“Families seem to like IEHP’s wide choice of doctors, hospitals and pharmacies for the lowest price per month available - $4 to $6 per month per child and no more than $18 per month per family,” explained Moreno.

To find out more about the Healthy Families Program and to enroll by phone, Inland Empire residents may call IEHP toll free at (866) 294-IEHP (4347) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday – Friday.
